ShaWntel Beaonka Hines
My name, obviously, is ShaWntel Hines. You
probably think that the large "W" in my name is a typo but I do it
intentionally to force people to pronounce the name correctly. I like
to be called ShaWntel or plain ShaWn. I am from Greensboro, North
Carolina. I attend James Benson Dudley Math, Science, and Technology
Academy. I will be a senior in the fall of 2001. I play clarinet in
the greatest marching band (the Marching Band of Thunda). I also play
tenor saxophone in the jazz ensemble.
I am the youngest of four children and an aunt. I
have two sisters, Tiffany (29), and Beniqua (20). My brother, D'Angelo
is also 29 years old. My niece, Breona, will be two years old in
November. My father attended the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and my mother attended North Carolina Central University.
I enjoy most rap and almost all R&B music. I
am the largest old school fanatic in the world. My high school is
like 98% black so I dont get to interact with many other cultures,
which is why I am glad for MITES. I plan to attend MIT, Georgia Tech,
Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, or Howard University. I
will either major in mechanical, architectural, or computer
engineering. Or maybe math. I dont know yet but I hope this program
will help me decide.
