Ski Chicas, Hill Rolling, and Other Fantastic Things

Just Who is Alison Wilhelm, Anyway?
Hi! My name is Alison Wilhelm, although I answer to a variety of things. Most of my friends call me Ally, but over the last few years I've been given 101 nicknames including Rosalind, TexMex, and Smart Pants. I have one older sister and two younger brothers. All of us, but my sister who is away at college, live just outside the city limits of Corvallis, OR. My high school, Crescent Valley, is only five minutes away. I'll be a senior next year, and I'm really excited!
I love to do almost everything, especially any type of dancing. I've taken many years of ballet,
but I also like social dances like Salsa and Hip-Hop. (Yes, I saw Save the Last
Dance, and loved it...) I also love chocolate, blueberries, and cars.
What are the "Ski Chicas?" And Why do they go Hill Rolling?
The Ski Chicas are my two best friends in the whole world, Emily Chovanec and Clare Magee. The three of us have been like the Three Stooges all through high school. We do everything together, icluding a yearly trip to the mountains to go cross country skiing.
Hill rolling is a Ski Chica specialty. The "Grassy Knoll," is located on our high school campus, just a few steps outside the far side enterance. We roll-race down the hill whenever we have something to celebrate. Minus the grass stains, it's a fun tradition, definitely an integral part of my high school experience.
What does this Rolling Chica Want to do with her Life?
I spent last week in Baja California with a medical relief team. We set up a free clinic in the day time, and at night went into the migrant camps with dinner, glasses, and antibiotics. It was one of the most amazing weeks of my life; I got to help people in a practical way.
I'm not sure what I want to do with my life. Right now I am intrigued with medecine, but am far from completely making up my mind. I may never be a doctor, but I will never forget the blessing of modern medicine in competent, generous hands.
I'll post pictures later this week, so friends and family, hurry back!
