Occupation Great Falls High School
Undergraduate University Massachusettes Institute of Technology. Class of 2007. Studying Chemical Engineering and Biology
Life After MITE2S Since I left Mites, I have become very involved with my school work. Besides my classes, I have both yearbook and newspaper to occupy my time. While both frustrate me to no end, I enjoy seeing the publications I work on winning national awards, including the NSPA best of show newspaper, and pacemaker yearbook. While I have cut back on school activities this year, including my beloved debate and stagecraft, I can honestly say the time I now spend on my homework, allows me to become more focused in school. I have been accepted to MIT and am waiting for a response from Princeton, although I believe the former will in the end become my school of choice.

Occupation Student
Undergraduate University University of Southern California. Class of 2007. B.S. in Civil Engineering
Life After MITE2S I feel obligated to brag here only because of the great compliment it pays the program; MITE2S is responsible for the success I've had since I attended. I received a student-of-the-year award, spoke at my school's graduation, and interned at Parsons-Brinckherhoff all in the same summer. I now attend college on a full-tuition scholarship and am enrolled in an honors engineering class, but am looking for more internships to keep busy. Thank you MITE2S! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Undergraduate University MIT. Class of 2008. Studying Biology
Life After MITE2S So I started out as a Chemical Engineering major, but officially switched to Biology in the Spring of 2007, which was supposed to be my last semester. That added another year to my undergrad studies, but I ended up taking Spring of 2008 off and will now finish up with my undergrad degree in December 2008. MIT has been tough, but I love it and it has taught me alot, including I don't have to be on certain life schedule, just my own. And it feels good!

Name (click to email) Humberto Duarte
Undergraduate University Harvard.
Life After MITE2S Since MITES school has seemed a lot easier, even after I chose to take one-to-many APs. I have been accepted into places that I only dreamed of and, as so many others here have said, MITES had a lot to do with it. Beyond college, MITES let me meet many incredibly bright and kind people who make the idea of a New England winter worth the burden. Good luck to everyone, and hope to see a lot of you next year.

Occupation SENIOR! what?!
Undergraduate University Harvard. Class of 2007. Studying Economics with a Spanish Language Citation
Life After MITE2S Hey Humberto are you talking about me?? ;) Anyway I was a TA for MITE2S summers 04 and 05... definitely one of the best experiences ever (after being a MITE2S student that is!). What i've been up to the past few years: BSA - President Emerita, past Publications Chair, harvard square homeless shelter overnight supervisor/ volunteer, varsity track (no longer), jv soccer, lots of black student group stuff, dancing (mostly freshman and soph year), stepping (mostly freshman year)... and lots and lots of other stuff... Anyway Mite2s was sooo amazing, definitely the best experience ever. It's made everything (especially problem sets and late nights) easier, introduced me to some amazing people, and made me more confident. Well I hope to see everyone who will be in Cambridge/Boston for the next year (can you believe we're about to graduate?!). much love y'all

Occupation Student
Undergraduate University MIT.
Life After MITE2S Right when I got back home from MITE2S, I was missing everything about it, from the late nights to the challenging school work to the friends and inside jokes I no longer had (Fo' Sho'). I made the picture website (see the website link, then click it) to try to keep the memories alive, but no one goes anymore, and I don't know if it (or I) can take the neglect any longer... Marching band took up all of my life until last Saturday, and now that that's over, I can finally look back an evaluate my life during that time. My AP classes are 'challenging' to stay awake in, and all I'm concentrating on now are finding some challenge in extracurrics and stuff like the AMC and leaving high school as quickly as possible. MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Georgia Tech EA. Zero decisions so far. If I don't get in anywhere, I'll cry. Really.

Occupation Graduate Student
Undergraduate University MIT. Class of 2006. B.S. in Physics
Graduate University MIT. Ph.D. in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Life After MITE2S After finishing MITES, I decided to come to Boston in a naive, yet infinitely rewarding attempt to play scientist. Namely, in hopes of following the footsteps of my imaginary godfather, Mr. Feynman. I married physics soon after, and had two unexpectedly attractive, yet completely charmless offsprings: electron and positron Rodriguez. Even then, I was able to graduate in three years with a B.S in physics, averaged over months of painful solid state chemistry which, I might add, continues to haunt my dreams every now and then. My first summer at MIT consisted of harassing the man that would become my graduate adviser, ultimately leading to my physics thesis. I am now a member of the Condensed Matter Theory group at MIT and was indescribably happy to teach the advanced physics III course last summer. In this course, the supple young minds of tomorrow learned about waves and vibrations...in the complex plane! If my secret plan to turn them into physics enthusiasts succeeded, then I am one step closer to becoming a true physics fanatic. Hu Hu Hurray!

Occupation Student (High School Senior)
Undergraduate University MIT.
Life After MITE2S Nada mas, et tu? Ha ha! Well actually, high school and college preparational activities are pretty much the extent to my daily schedule. I study for my 7 AP classes, I volunteer, I sing, I attend club meetings, and I sleep. I am a National Achievement Semi-finalist, I have been accepted into 2 universities which I do not want to attend, and I have a 6.0 GPA this semester. Big whoop-di-do; in the long run, none of this matters. A bit of advice to all: Life is too short to overdo anything, so work hard, but play harder. Holla!

Name (click to email) Lisa RenČe Vermillion
Undergraduate University Please god, Stanford. Studying Bioengineering
Life After MITE2S Wow, it's been a whirlwind since MITES. I honestly think MITES has changed me more than any other life experience I've had. It definitely helped me to become more outgoing and has helped me with my academics immensely [I'm the only one that doesn't struggle in all 3 of my AP classes: Biology, Calculus AB, and English...well, maybe English a little :o) ]. Senior year has been a breeze because of MITES, and I think getting a taste of college life before college is really important. At MITES, I made all the mistakes I won't have pay for in my first semester. I also met a lot of cool people from all over the United States. I was amazed once I realized that I really could do MIT-level work! All in all, I think MITES was a really valuable experience.

Life After MITE2S Sup y'all? I just finished taking the last exams that I will have to take as a high school student, all two of them, so now I just got to show up to school, and I'll graduate. My school doesn't really have that many challenging courses, so there's not much left for me to do there. As most of you are aware, I'll be out in sunny Stanford, California next year, everyone in my school was shocked because the valedictorian at my school got rejected from Stanford. My extracurricular activities are still about the same, MathCOUNTs, Math Club, Student Union, swim (no I don't wear a speedo), football, track, lifting, bible studies and doing Lab work at Dow Chemical. I've been named National Merit and National Achievement Semifinalist, and won a local UNCF scholarship, there really wasn't any competition since there are so few black students in the area. Peace.
